Hydration vs Moisture: Understanding the Difference

Two Different Needs, Two Different Solutions

Confusing hydration and moisture is one of the most common skincare mistakes. Understanding the difference helps you choose the right products for your skin concerns.

Hydration

Hydration refers to water content in the skin cells. Dehydrated skin looks dull and feels tight, even if it produces oil. Hydrating ingredients (humectants) attract water to the skin — think hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and aloe vera.

Moisture

Moisture refers to the skin's oil content and its ability to retain water. Dry skin lacks oil and needs emollients and occlusives to seal moisture in — think ceramides, shea butter, and oils.

Which do you need?

You might need both. Oily skin can be dehydrated. Dry skin can be dehydrated too. The key is layering: hydrate first, then moisturise to lock it in.

Our Hydra Boost Essence provides deep hydration, while the Confidence Day Cream creates the moisture barrier your skin needs to thrive.
